Three new dry red wines for the cooler fall weather and to pair with hearty fall meals. All are easily found in good quality local grocery stores at reasonable prices.

Petite Petit by Micheal David is large and in charge! Officially part of the Freakshow family wine collection. A substantial dry red wine loaded with pure black fruit and vanilla flavors that deliciously coat the palate. I love the bottle design and label, as I am wild over circus themes.

Petite Petit is a full-bodied blend of Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot. Show stopping aromas of rich plum, boysenberry jam and chewy black cherry. Velvety flavors of blackberry compote, cacao nibs, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon on the palate.

The ultra dark color is stunning, and the acidity is balanced. Pairs well with sausage, meatloaf, fine cut steaks, and sloppy Joes. Aged for 18 months 32% French oak, 41% American oak (31% new), 27% Neutral oak and 15% ABV.

Coppola Diamond Collection Claret is a delicious red blend; its classic flavors make it a staple for most wine lovers. The jet-black bottle is wrapped in gold mesh and visually stunning.

Claret is produced of 85% cabernet sauvignon and other red grape varietals. Dry and rich with smokiness and black fruit on the nose. Smooth and sophisticated, round, and eager to speak of the wine maker’s skills.

Portions of the blend is aged for a minimum of 10 months in a combination of both French and American oak barrels. A portion of the blend also aged for 5 months on both French and American oak staves and chips.

Refined long finish with firm, well-structured tannins. Its sophisticated character is enhanced by a generous body and an enduring, elegant, finish. Dark fruit and the subtle influence of French oak, which adds layers of spice and vanilla.

Pairs with beef stew, Sunday roast, and black bean burgers with caramelized onions.

This wine is produced by Francis Ford Coppola, the man who directed the Godfather in 1972. Overall, a wonderful value and would make for a wonderful hostess gift.

Menage a Trois Lavish Merlot begins with an alluring blueberry cordial fragrance. On the palateare flavors of rich, ripe blueberries and juicy black plums flirt with cocoa powder and captivating vanilla notes. It’s full-bodied with a soft, round mouthfeel, agreeable tannins, and fresh acidity.

I discovered this amazing merlot on vacation a couple years ago. This is 100% merlot and great quality for the price.

The bottle is gorgeous with its golden foil cap and royal blue colored label.

Cocoa flavors are warm and sensitive for this time of year. Menage a Trois has an impressive portfolio of wines and is priced to get a leg up on inflation. Pairs great with cheeseburgers, Swedish meatballs, lasagna, smothered turkey wings, pizza, eggplant parmesan, and deep-fried okra.

All three of these wines are from California and terrific for new red wine drinkers.
