The amazing country of Portugal produces beautiful and memorable wines.

Myandru red wine

Myndru is a brand of wine from Portugal’s Alentejo region. Herdade Aldeia de Cima winery is known for wines that reflect the region’s ancestral roots and indigenous red grape varieties. Tinta Grossa, Baga, and Alfrocheiro are fermented in clay amphorae, producing a wine with a vigorous structure. Donโ€™t be concerned with trying to pronounce the grapes, as the taste is what matters most.

Earth, mineral notes, and a delicate floral bouquet with red fruit aromas and balanced acidity. I enjoyed the chewy texture and dried blueberry profile of this wine. A dry light red with a velvety finish.

I paired a few glasses with turkey meatballs and gravy. Try Myndru red with classic sloppy Joe and a side of fries.

Quinta Nova Grainha Douro Branco Reserva 2020 from Douro, Portugal is a distinguished dry white wine that exemplifies elegance and complexity.

Grainha Reserva

Quinta Nova is a Portugal Estate trying to establish the country’s reputation for terroir-driven high-end bottlings. Established century-old knowledge of local viticulture, precision winemaking, and dedication.

High-altitude vineyards are crafted from a blend of indigenous grape varieties. This wine offers a harmonious balance of freshness, white stone fruit and subtle oak influence. Pale straw yellow with greenish hues, indicating its freshness and youth. Aromas of vanilla notes reflects the oak aging. Gouveio, Viosinho, Rabigato, and Fernรฃo Pires grapes are used to create the magic. Again, donโ€™t be too concerned with pronunciations just lean the regions of Portugal and how yummy the wines are overall.

A full-bodied and balanced acidity, a pleasant texture from aging on fine lees, contributing to its complexity and depth. Very delicious paired with fatty fish dishes and cream-based sauces. I enjoyed a bottle with turkey pot pie and cornbread.
